Our New Topic

Our new topic which will start next week is ‘Would a pirate make a good friend?’

The children will learn about the life of a pirate. We will look at what they eat, wear, how they talk and what their job is. In the classroom we will be changing our reading tent into a reading treasure chest and our role play will become the deck of a pirate ship. This will provide the children with lots of opportunities to dress up and become a pirate sailing the seven seas. We will be reading the books Captain Yellowbelly and Night Time Pirates and writing and reading instructions linked to our pirate theme.

Princess and The Pea

Our current topic has been based upon the story of the Princess and the Pea. Reception children have been given a fantastic opportunity of learning the story through music. Each part of the story has been written into a song. The children will learn all the songs .in school. Then they will  have the opportunity to perform them at a special concert with other schools on March 1st. The children will sing the story and an orchestra will accompany them. The narrator of the story is a very famous Cbeebies celebrity . Please read or watch the story with your child. There are many versions on You Tube.

Welcome to Reception

Welcome to our class page. Our class has 31 children and is taught by Mrs Doughty. Our support assistants are Mrs Parveen, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Begum. Here you will find out about all the exciting things we do in our class.

This year we are taking part in a Mindfulness Project. This will help children to concentrate, listen and regulate their behaviours. We have two sessions a day. The children are practising their breathing techniques at the moment. Our favourite breathing technique is Rainbow breathing. Ask your child to show you how it is done.

We have an new role play area to play in this half term. Our class Post Office. Here we learn to write letters, postcards, pay bills, tax our cars and apply for passports. We have enjoyed weighing parcels and posting letters.
