This half-term, we have been studying the Vikings in history and reading about Hiccup’s Viking adventures in How to Train your Dragon. On DT/Art day, we worked in small groups to build Viking Longships. Take a look at our fantastic work:
Welcome to Class 5 taught by Mrs Whittle and supported by Mrs Bostock and Mrs Abbott. In addition, Mrs Bi teaches RE and music on Tuesday afternoons and Mr James teaches PE and computing on Friday mornings.
LEARNING: Currently, we are enjoying reading How to Train Your Dragon in English, developing our skills in fractions and statistics in maths and exploring the animal and plant life-cycles in science.
HOMEWORK: Learning Log tasks are taken home each Friday to be returned the following Thursday. The children have produced some impressive pieces already this year, including several 3D models. Choosing just one for celebration assembly each week is proving tricky! In addition to the learning logs, the children also bring home spellings on a Monday for a test the following Monday. Home reading books are changed regularly and we ask that the children spend at least 10 minutes reading each night. Your child will also be bringing home a library book to enjoy.
PE KIT: Please ensure that the children have their kit (black shorts, white t-shirt and pumps/trainers) in school each Friday.
It has been a great first half of the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to me.
