Welcome to Nursery

We are delighted to be your new teachers and look forward to working with you and your family this year.

Mrs Tonge is the class teacher and is in school every day. Mrs Parveen and Mrs Rafique support the children within the class.

Key Information

Morning Nursery session is 8.45-11.45am.
Afternoon Nursery session is 12.15-3.15pm.

  • PE - For all morning nursery children P.E will be on Wednesday. For all afternoon nursery children P.E. will be on Tuesday. Children should come to school dressed in their PE kit on this day.
  • Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day. To help staff please can you write your child’s name on their bottle.
  • Please make sure your child brings their blue book bag to school each day.
  • Reading book bags need to be brought to school every day.
  • Snack money is paid on a Monday and is £1 per week.

All children are expected to wear the school uniform.
Please make sure you label all of your child's uniform including shoes and coats.

Subject Overview Autumn Term 1

 This Term, we will be:

  • Making friends, learning our class rules and routines, learning how to take turns and sharing resources and toys.
  • Starting Phase 1 phonics. We will be listening and tuning into sounds in the environment and to be able to distinguish between sounds and patterns of sounds. We will also be developing our awareness of sounds made by various instruments and noise makers. Learning to play instruments alongside a nursery rhyme or song and making loud and quiet sounds
  • In English we will be sharing lots of stories around the topic ‘Marvellous Me, My Home and Community’ including the books ‘Super Duper Me!’, ‘Super Daisy’ and ‘Supertato’.
  • In Maths we will be learning how to compare collections of objects using the mathematical language of more than, fewer than and same. We will also  explore simple pattern and join in with repeats.
  • Drawing and painting pictures of myself and my family.
  • Taking part in a weekly P.E. session learning fundamental game skills such as catching, throwing and kicking a ball with a specialised PE coach.
  • Discovering more about the season of Autumn looking at changes in weather, what we wear, animal and plant life.
  • In R.E. learning about how each one of us is special, created and loved by God.

Subject Overview Autumn Term 2

This term we will be:

  • Continuing to learn our class rules and routines, learn how to take turns and share resources and toys.
  • Continuing our Phase 1 Phonics. We will be listening and tuning into sounds in the environment and to be able to distinguish between sounds and patterns of sounds. We will also be developing our awareness of sounds made by various instruments and noise makers. Learning to play instruments alongside a nursery rhyme or song and making loud and quiet sounds.
  • In English we will be sharing lots of stories around the topic ‘Explore Autumn’ including the books ‘Pumpkin Soup’, ‘Stickman’ and ‘We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt’.
  • In Maths learning to count, recognise and subitise to 3 and exploring and building with shapes and objects. Meeting the artist Kandinsky and his painting, ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’.
  • Taking part in a weekly P.E. session learning fundamental game skills such as catching, throwing and kicking a ball with Coach Mia.
  • Discovering more about the season of Autumn looking at changes in weather, what we wear, animal and plant life.
  • In R.E. learning about people who are special and the Christian festival of Christmas. We will be learning lots of Christmas songs ready for our Christmas performance!
