Welcome to Nursery

We are delighted to be your new teachers and look forward to working with you and your family this year.

Mrs Tonge is the class teacher and is in school every day. Mrs Parveen supports the children within the class.

Key Information

Morning Nursery session is 8.45-11.45am.
Afternoon Nursery session is 12.15-3.15pm.

  • Please ensure your child has a water bottle in school each day. To help staff please can you write your child’s name on their bottle.
  • Please make sure your child brings their blue book bag to school each day.
  • Reading book bags need to be brought to school every day.
  • Snack money is paid on a Monday and is £1 per week.

All children are expected to wear the school uniform.
Please make sure you label all of your child's uniform including shoes and coats.

Subject Overview Autumn Term 1

Our whole school value this half term is Thankfulness.

This Term, we will be:

  • Making new friends, learning our class rules and routines, and developing our understanding of how to take turns and share resources and toys.
  • Starting Phase 1 phonics. We will listen carefully and tune into sounds in our environment, learning to distinguish between different sounds and patterns of sounds. We will also develop our awareness of sounds made by a variety of instruments and noise-makers. We will have fun learning to play instruments alongside nursery rhymes and songs, exploring how to make loud and quiet sounds.
  • In English we will be sharing lots of wonderful stories around the themes of ‘Marvellous Me, My Home and Community’, including Super Duper Me!, Super Daisy and Supertato.
  • In Maths we will be learning to compare collections of objects using mathematical language such as more than, fewer than and the same as. We will also explore simple patterns and join in with repeated patterns.
  • In Understanding the World we will be drawing and painting pictures of ourselves and our families. We will also be discovering more about the season of Autumn, exploring changes in the weather, what we wear, and the animals and plants we may see around us.
  • In R.E. we will be learning that each one of us is special, created and loved by God. Our Christian value this half term will be thankfulness.
  • In Art & Design we will be learning about the artist Joan Miró and creating our own colourful self-portraits, inspired by his distinctive style. We will explore similar collage and painting techniques to create our own unique artwork.
