Subject Overview Autumn Term 1

This half term in The Grove, our theme is "Let’s Discover Ourselves!". We’ll be exploring a range of exciting and meaningful topics to help children learn more about who they are and the world around them, these will run alongside our daily maths, English and RWI sessions.

Our learning will include:

  • Family members and the people who are important to us
  • Where we live and the communities we belong to
  • Our bodies and how to look after them
  • Friendships and working together
  • Exploring our local area

In the afternoons, children will also enjoy:

  • Baking sessions
  • Turn-taking games to build social skills
  • Storytelling activities to spark imagination and language development
  • RE lessons to encourage reflection and understanding
  • Continuous provision, available all day

Subject Overview Autumn Term 2

Our whole school value this half term is thankfulness.

• Over the next few weeks, we will also be acknowledging Remembrance.
• As we move towards Christmas and Advent, we’ll explore the themes of joy, love, peace, and hope.
• Exciting events are planned, including our Nativity performances and Christingle services.
• In The Grove, we’re focusing on developing the core foundations for learning as all children have now settled in.
• We’ll help every child build confidence and independence through daily phonics, handwriting, reading, number, and sentence-building activities.
• With a structured routine and plenty of encouragement, we’ll continue to nurture each child’s individual strengths and support their next steps in learning
