Welcome to Year 2

We are delighted to be your new teachers and look forward to working with you and your family this year.

Ms Ali and Mrs Studholme are the class teachers. Ms Ali teaches the class on a Monday, and Tuesday.  Mrs Studholme teaches the class on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  

Mrs Blakeley supports the children within the class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday .

Mrs Flint supports the children within the class on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Key Information

  • P.E lessons are on Wednesdays. Children can wear their P.E kit to school on these days. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit.
  • School lunches should be selected from the School Grid website at home.
  • Every child should bring a water bottle to school.
  • Please ensure you have access to Class Dojo.
  • Reading - Your child will bring home 3 books. A RWI reading book, a book bag book related to RWI and a class library picture book. These will be changed weekly. Please make sure you are reading as much as possible. Children need to bring these into school every day.

  • Phonics: Continuing with our phonics, comprehension and spelling programme Read, Write Inc.
  • English: Enjoying various stories such Look Up, in English.
  • Maths: Focusing on numbers 10 to 100 and calculations to 20 in maths.
  • RE: Learning about, Muslims and how they live, in R.E. lessons.
  • History: Understanding significant people from the past, Robert Peel and the Police force.
  • Computing: Exploring laptops and word processing in computing.
  • Life Education: Learning about the importance of keeping and staying safe in life education.
  • PE: Learning and developing fundamental movement skills in PE lessons.
  • Art: Creating clay pots and tiles in Art.
  • Science: Investigating materials in science.

  • Enjoying various stories such as The Owl who was afraid of the dark, in English.
  • Focusing on calculations to 20 and fluently adding and subtracting within 10 in Maths.
  • Learning about Christmas and its importance in Christianity in R.E. lessons.
  • Exploring seasonal and Daily weather patterns in Geography
  • Exploring algorithms and programming in Computing.
  • Learning about the importance of a healthy balanced diet in Life education.
  • Learning and developing dance skills in PE lessons.
  • Creating a moving decoration in DT.
  • Animals: Lifecycles and health in Science.
