Welcome to Year 4

We are delighted to be your new teachers and look forward to working with you and your family this year.

Mr Hutchinson is the class teacher and is in school every day. Mrs Hill supports the children within the class.

Key Information

  • Dinners are to be selected upon School Grid. If you need assistance setting up an account, please ask at the office.
  • P.E is on Tuesdays this year – the children are to come to school in their kit with their school jumper.
  • Reading - Children should read at home for at least 15 minutes each day. Please sign their home reader to confirm this has been done.

  • Reading the novel Gorilla whilst composing our own original narratives.
  • Recapping the foundations of Y4 grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Improving our reading comprehension skills by practising a range of different types of questions.
  • Reviewing column addition and column subtraction from Year 3.
  • Reading, writing, comparing & rounding numbers to ten thousan.
  • Exploring living things and their habitats in Science.
  • Finding out how the Cotton Mills of Manchester impacted our local area in History.
  • Learning about Manchester in Geography.
  • Discussing the Trinity in RE and why it is important to Christians.
  • Learning the ukulele in Music.

  • Reading the novel Leon and the Place Between whilst composing a diary entry.
  • Recapping the foundations of Y4 grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Improving our reading comprehension skills by practising a range of different types of questions.
  • Practising multiplication and division operations
  • Learning about the digestion system in Science.
  • Continuing to find out how the Cotton Mills of Manchester impacted our local area in History.
  • Learning more about Manchester and the surrounding area in Geography.
  • Consider what Hindus think God is like.
  • Learning the ukulele in Music.
  • Our school value this half term is love.
